While many speculate that Bonney will join the Straw Hats, I think she will join the Revolutionary Army. One of the main reasons that people have suggested that Bonney will join the Straw Hats is that she doesn’t really have a next move after the events at Egghead. Her goal is not to become the Pirate King like other pirates. She sailed out to sea with only one purpose: to find her father.
But in my opinion, if she joins the Revolutionary Army, she will take up the mantle from both of her parents: directly fighting the Celestial Dragons. Especially now seeing that she is the first person in the entire series to hit a Gorosei. She’d be like a living legend to them the second she joins, on top of all the stories I’m sure Kuma told them about before he left.
From a character perspective, I think this makes the most sense for Bonney. And now learning all this stuff about Dragon and Kuma’s relationship and what happened to Ginny, I think it makes the most sense for Dragon as a character too in order to repay the favor. This can allow him to watch over Kuma and Ginny’s kid where they no longer can, especially if we all agree that Kuma is likely dead at the end of this arc.
We all know that Kuma saved Luffy and his crew on Thriller Bark (and eventually Sabaody). To me it seems like he stepped in especially knowing that Dragon can’t be there to save his kid, knowing that it’s the biggest weakness for a parent. So wouldn’t it make sense for Dragon to repay the favor for Kuma’s kid when Kuma can’t step in?
Seeing Ginny’s story, Bonney’s entire character will come full circle if she joins the Revolutionary Army. The first time Bonney appears in the story is in a scene where a Celestial Dragon takes someone’s wife and turns them into a slave. It’s the same story of what happened to Ginny. And what did Bonney say when Zoro stepped in to help that man?
Bonney has. Bonney can join and help these people who are living out the same tragic story that her parents lived out. She can combat the Celestial Dragons who take everything from people. And Dragon can repay the debt he owes Kuma for stepping in and saving his kid, because he knows a kid is every parent’s weakness.
